WBA Announcement (23/6)

24 Jun 2021 by Mario Costa

Dear Members,
Most of you would have received the email yesterday from the WBA announcing that domestic basketball is back this weekend. (see below)

It’s important that Coaches, Team Managers, Players and Parents double check their fixtures tomorrow as some changes are expected for those members involved in multiple teams.

πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€ BASKETBALL IS BACK!! πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€

With the latest easing of restrictions from the State Government we are able to return our competitions, training and programs, but there will be a number of restrictions in place.

After consultation with both Basketball Victoria and Eagle Stadium management on the current State Government settings, the WBA will be operating under the Orange-50 level, or 50 people per court.

This means for ALL WBA activities there will be a 1 spectator (parent or guardian) allowed per player.

In the case where parents/guardians have other dependants (under 15 years old) we are asking that you try your best to have them not come along, but we absolutely understand there are circumstances where this is simply not possible and will allow it in these cases.

Masks are mandatory inside for all patrons over 12 years old unless medically exempt. Players, coaches and referees are exempt while on court participating in an exertive role, however, must be worn while not playing and on entry and exit of stadium.

We’re also asking that players and spectators vacate both the courts and the stadium in a timely manner as soon as their games/activities are completed. (If you are looking to catch up socially with friends, we ask that this takes place outside the stadium!) All patrons must enter and exit via the main entry of the stadium.

πŸ€ JUNIOR DOMESTIC:
Our junior domestic competitions will return on Friday night (June 25) for U8s and Saturday (June 26) for U10-U16. Tuesday Domestic competitions for U18 and Youth Men/Women) will return to court after the school holidays on Tuesday July 13.

After consultation with our 12 domestic clubs, the WBA is also adding an additional day of Saturday junior domestic, to be played on the final weekend of the school holidays, Saturday July 10.

As had been the case before the lockdown, all patrons to Eagle Stadium will need to check in via the QR code at the entrance.

We know the number caps aren’t ideal, but we much prefer these restrictions than not being on court at all!

Thank you to our entire community for your patience and support through what has been a very challenging month – we look forward to getting back to the sport we all love and have our fingers crossed we get a good run at it in Term 3!
