WBA Announcement (16/6)

16 Jun 2021 by Mario Costa

Another week another 7 sleeps before we can hit the courts 🤞🤞🤞🤞

From the WBA
With another round of COVID restriction changes announced today by the State Government, Wyndham Basketball has been in consultation with Basketball Victoria about next steps for returning to the court.

Unfortunately, there are still significant barriers for indoor community sport – particularly those who run out of a large multi-court facility, as we do.

The new restrictions include a 50 person cap on all venues – regardless of size. This means Eagle Stadium can only have 50 people across all 12 courts at any one time (also includes the gym/health and fitness centre), which is obviously unfeasible for any meaningful activity.

As a result all WBA domestic competitions and programs will again not run this week, until at least midnight Thursday, June 24. This includes:
🏀 All junior domestic competitions
🏀 All senior domestic competitions
🏀 Aussie Hoops, DDA, The Edge and The WEST programs

VJBL’s Friday night games have been cancelled by Basketball Victoria and this weekend’s Big V games have been postponed.

Where there is some more positive news is that we are currently sourcing training opportunities for our VJBL rep and Big V teams. As we lock details in on these, we will contact those impacted directly.

For the full details of Basketball Victoria’s update you can read it here: http://bit.ly/BVRTSUpdates

We’re hoping the next easing of restrictions in one week’s time is more favourable for indoor community sport and we can move back onto the court in a more meaningful way.
Be sure to keep up to date with all the news via our social media channels.

As we have throughout this lockdown, the WBA continues to encourage you to look after yourself and check in with teammates, family and friends during these challenging times.
